It is a common expression.
“To provide for our children.”
Somehow over the years this phrase has become synonymous with money. To provide is to earn. We do our best to “support the family.” Yet another phrase that has become a financial forecast. We are wealthy when rich in resources. So simple, so clear.
The funny thing about definitions is they are merely interpretations.
provide: to make available
support: to hold up
wealth: a plentiful amount
How might our children detail these terms?
I can tell you who they want “available” - you.
I can tell you who they want to “hold them up” - you.
I can tell you what is “a plentiful amount” - as much of you as possible.
There are many ways to define our lives. There are many ways to define our parenting and I have so much more to say on this matter. However, I am at this very moment being interrupted by Shae, Alina, and Tali. They are headed out to play and request my presence.
Apparently, my children need “a plentiful amount” of me right now.
I hope you understand.
